Select Your User-type
Import instructions differ for single sign-on users. Please follow the appropriate instructions for your user type. Clients that use Clever or ClassLink should follow the instructions in the Single Sign-On Users section below. Clients that do not use Clever or ClassLink should follow the instructions in the Non-Single Sign-On Users section.
Single Sign-On Users
Clients that use Clever or ClassLink for single sign-on must enter and edit all course, teacher, and student data directly through their preferred platform. Changes such as these should not be made directly in MI Write. Although it is possible to make such changes directly in MI Write, those changes will be lost after the next MI Write data sync which typically occurs once daily. At that time, data from Clever and ClassLink will sync to MI Write according to the preset sharing rules that are established in the single sign-on platform.
Non-Single Sign-On Users

2. Select the desired school, if applicable.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the School tab and find the Roster section.
4. Click the Download button and download a copy of the blank roster template.

5. To complete the roster, follow steps 1 and 2 on the Instructions tab of the blank roster template.
6. Save the completed roster and return to MI Write.
- On the School tab, scroll back down to the Roster section and click the Roster Import button.
- Browse your files and insert the roster that was just completed. Then click Upload.

7. Review the Roster Analysis page to make sure that what is displayed accurately represents what you have entered on the roster.
- If everything looks correct, click Continue to proceed with the import.

8. If the Students Requiring Attention page is displayed, you will need to select the left or right resolution option before proceeding. Click Next to continue to each student that requires attention until all potential matches have been addressed. Once you have addressed all issues in this phase, click the Review button. Then click Continue Import.

9. Once the import is complete, double check to make sure all data was imported properly. If any errors occurred, they will appear on the Import Summary page. If necessary, address each issue and then import the corrected roster.
10. If courses were created and students were added to them during the roster import process, click the Back to School button and verify that the new seat total and courses list is accurate.

11. If you choose not to import courses by roster, teachers will need to create their own courses. Once logged in, they will have the option to create as many courses as needed. Then they can add students to those courses under their Course tab.
